Theca with relics of Saint Christopher Martyr and Saint Joseph of Lioness OFM Cap.

Oval glass-fronted bronze reliquary theca housing first class ex ossibus (of the bone) relics of Saint Christopher Martyr and second class ex pallio (of the dress) Saint Joseph of Lionessa. The relics are affixed on a background of silk, surrounded by gold paperolle ornamentation and identified on a paper cedula as S.Christophori M /ex Pallio S.Joseph. a Leon. The reliquary is secured by perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax with coat of arms of Italian Bishop.

Saint Christopher is venerated by several Christian denominations as a martyr killed in the reign of the 3rd-century Roman Emperor Decius. He is a patron of bachelors, transportation (drivers, sailors, etc.), traveling (especially for long journeys), storms, Brunswick, Saint Christopher's Island (Saint Kitts), Island Rab, Vilnius, epilepsy, gardeners, holy death, and toothache

Saint Joseph of Leonessa, O.F.M. Cap., (Italian: Giuseppe da Leonessa) (†1612) is a saint of the Catholic Church and a Capuchin monk who preached to the poor and reconciled feuding families as well as warring cities which had been at odds for years. He was canonized by Pope Benedict XIV in 1746. His feast day is kept on February 4, within the Franciscan Order.
