Theca with a first class ex ossibus relic of Saints Vitus and Modestus

Oval glass-fronted silvered metal reliquary theca housing significant first class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saints Vitus and Modestus. The theca is decorated with a twisted wire oranmentation and the relic is identified on a paper cedula as S.Viti et Modesti M.. The theca is secured by perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax with coat of arms of a Catholic abbot. 

Saints Vitus and Modestus - martyrs under Diocletian. St. Vitus is counted as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers of medieval Roman Catholicism. He is patron of actors; comedians; Czechoslovakia; dancers; dogs; epilepsy; Mazara del Vallo, Sicily; Forio, Ischia; oversleeping; Prague, Czech Republic; rheumatic chorea (Saint Vitus Dance); Rijeka, Croatia; Serbia; snake bites; storms; Vacha, Germany; Zeven, Lower Saxony; Het Gooi, and the Netherlands.
