The icon depicts Christ as Pantocrator ( "Almighty" or "All-powerful") - pictured half-figured blessing with his right hand while holding an Orb and a Cross in his left hand. the icon is covered by an ornate parcel gilt silver revetment cover with a separately attached multi-rayed halo. The silver cover is stamped with Moscow town mark and hallmark of workmaster Dmitry Orlov, known Moscow silversmith and owner of a firm that by 1865 employed 160 workmen and apprentices. The revetment cover is further embellished by four porcelain plaques - two roundels in top corners with abbreviation IC / XC and two above shoulders with inscription Гдь Вседержитель ("Christ Pantocrator").
