2004 Documented reliquary theca with a relic of St. Saturninus, Martyr, patron of Cagliari

Square glass-fronted metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of St. Saturninus, MartyrThe relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as Ex Ossibvs / S. Satvrnini Cal (of the bone of St. Saturninus of Cagliari, Martyr ).  On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Archbishop Giuseppe Mani, Archbishop of Cagliari (2003-2012). The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and signed by Msgr. Mani in 2004. 

Saint Saturninus of Cagliari (†~304 AD) is a Christian Martyr venerated as the patron saint of Cagliari. According to Christian tradition, Saturninus was a local martyr killed at Cagliari by order of governor Barbarus. He was beheaded for refusing to offer sacrifices to Jupiter during the persecutions of Christians by Diocletian. His feast day is celebrated on October 30.
