Blessed Carlo Acutis was born on May 3, 1991, in London, England, to Italian parents Andrea Acutis and Antonia Salzano. Raised in Milan, Italy, from a young age, Carlo exhibited a profound devotion to the Catholic faith despite his parents' initial lack of religiosity.
After his First Communion at age seven, he declared his life plan to "always be united to Jesus," attending daily Mass and fostering a deep love for the Eucharist, which he called "my highway to heaven." A tech-savvy teenager, Carlo used his computer skills to create a website documenting Eucharistic miracles, influencing thousands worldwide. Known for his kindness, he helped the poor, supported bullied classmates, and inspired his family and au pair to embrace Catholicism. Diagnosed with leukemia, he offered his sufferings for the Pope and the Church, passing away on October 12, 2006, at age 15 in Monza, Italy.
His cause for sainthood began in 2013, and he was declared Venerable in 2018. Two miracles— healing a Brazilian boy with a pancreatic condition and a Costa Rican girl from a severe head injury—were attributed to his intercession. Beatified on October 10, 2020, in Assisi, Carlo’s canonization is set for September 7, 2025, by Pope Leo XIV, marking him as the first millennial saint.
