Unique Jesuit three-panel multi-relic travel reliquary dating to the 18th century containing 28 relics. The relics are housed on the right and left panels of a three-panel glass-fronted brass reliquary and centered around three-dimensional statuettes of Crucified Christ and the Virgin Mary. The central panel holds a hand-colored lithographic portrait of Saint Francis of Assisi in Ecstasy with stigmata marks clearly visible. The relics are affixed to striped gold silk background and surrounded by elaborate silver thread ornamentation. Each relic is identified on a separate paper cedula.
The reliquary contains relics of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuit Order, 25 male and female Martyrs, and two Popes, Servants of God: Innocent XI (p. 1676-1689) and Benedict XIII (p. 1723-1730). The reliquary is not secured by wax seals because it was most likely meant for private veneration only by a high-ranking member of a Jesuit Order which is further supported by the inclusion of relics from two Popes still in the process of beatification at the time of the inclusion.
