The relic came in. I wanted to cry. My heart was so overwhelmed with joy. On my 25th anniversary the Discalsed Monastery celebrated mass with me in their cloister. The Mother Prioress with the sisters came be a hard bound copy of his writings and his life. I feel it was the hand of Blessed Francisco was moving them. And with this holy relic he is moving me. I will do a more intensive study of him. I will place his relic in the large reliquary I have with John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, and Therese of Liseaux. He will be at home.

Reliquary theca with relics of Saint Augustine of Hippo, Doctor of the Church

18th century oval glass-fronted reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus (from the bone ) relic of Saint Augustine of Hippo, Doctor of the Church. The relic is affixed to a red silk background, surrounded by golden paperolle and silver cord ornamentation and identified in manuscript cedula label as S. Augustin / epis. (Saint Augustine, Bishop). On the back the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax with a perfectly preserved coat of arms of a Roman Catholic Bishop.

Saint Augustine of Hippo (†430) was an early Christian theologian and philosopher whose writings influenced the development of Western Christianity and Western philosophy. He was the bishop of Hippo Regius in north Africa and is viewed as one of the most important Church Fathers in Western Christianity for his writings in the Patristic Era. Augustine was canonized by popular acclaim, and later recognized as a Doctor of the Church in 1298 by Pope Boniface VIII. His feast day is 28 August, and he is venerated by all Christian denominations which venerate saints. He is considered the patron saint of brewers, printers, theologians, sore eyes, and a number of cities and dioceses.
