Reliquary theca with relics of Saint Saint Francis of Paola & Saint Aloysius Gonzaga

Oval glass-fronted silver reliquary theca housing relics of Saint Francis of Paola, O.M. and Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, S.J. The relics are identified on horseshoe-shaped paper cedulae labels as S. Franc. de Paul / S. Aloys. Gonz. C. (Saint Francis of Paola / Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, Confessor). On the back, the theca is secured by a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax with a clear imprint of a coat of arms of Bishop Nicola Angelo Maria Landini, O.E.S.A. (†1782), Titular Bishop of Porphyreon and Vicar General of the Vatican Curia.

Saint Francis of Paola, O.M. (Francesco di Paola)(†1507) was an Italian mendicant friar and the founder of the Roman Catholic Order of Minims. The two major movements in this order were humility and non-violence. The word "Minim" refers to living as the smallest or least, or embracing humility, simplicity, and plainness. The call to non-violence and absence of cruelty was expressed through veganism and not doing harm to any creature. He is a patron saint of vegetarians, boatmen, mariners, and naval officers.

Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, S.J. (Italian: Luigi Gonzaga; † 1591) was an Italian aristocrat who became a member of the Society of Jesus. While still a student at the Roman College, he died as a result of caring for the victims of an epidemic. He was beatified in 1605, and canonized in 1726. He is a patron of students, Christian youth, Jesuit scholastics, the blind, AIDS patients, AIDS caregivers.
