Important Reliquary with Relics of St. Pantaleon (Panteleimon), Greatmartyr & Unmercenary Healer

Glass reliquary housing with gilt and silvered wood base and cross surmounted finial housing a very large and important first-class ex ossibus relic of Saint Pantaleon, Martyr and Unmercenary Healer. The relic is displayed inside of a red glass cylinder receptacle and identified on a manuscript paper cedula label as S. Pantaleo, Mart. (Saint Pantaleon, Martyr). The reliquary is secured by a green silk ribbon held in place by a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Fr. Archbishop Fr. Tommaso Michele Salzano (†1890), Titular Bishop of Tanis & Auxiliary Bishop of Napoli (1854-1893).

Greatmartyr Panteleimon (or Pantaleon) was the Unmercenary Healer martyred under the reign of Emperor Maximian (ca. 305 A.D.). Saint Panteleimon had been educated as a physician and "dedicated his life to the suffering, the sick, the unfortunate, and the needy. He treated all those who turned to him without charge, healing them in the name of Jesus Christ. He is a Holy Patron of physicians, midwives, livestock, lottery winners and victories, invoked against headaches, consumption, locusts, witchcraft, accidents, and loneliness, helper for crying children.
