1866 Documented theca with relics of St. Stanislaus Kostka, Patron of Poland

Oval  silvered brass glass-fronted reliquary theca housing the first-class-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Stanislaus Kostka. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as S. Stanis, Kos.  On the back, under a protective cap with a profile of the Saint, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Fr. Francesco Marinelli, O.E.S.A.(†1887), Titular Bishop of Porphyreon and the Sacristan of the Apoostoolic Curia (1856-1887). The relic is accompanied by an original matching authentics document issued and signed in 1866 by Fr. Marinelli.

Saint Stanislaw Kostka S.J. (†1568) was a Polish novice of the Society of Jesus. The Holy See ratified his beatification in 1605; he was canonized in 1726. St. Stanislaus is a popular saint of Poland and many religious institutions have chosen him as the protector of their novitiates. He is invoked for palpitations of the heart and for dangerous cases of illness. Patron of Jesuit novices, students, Poland, Broken Bones.
