1753 Documented reliquary theca with relics of Saint Vincent Ferrer

Oval  silver crystal-fronted reliquary theca housing the first-class-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Vincent Ferrer. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground decrated by silver wire and paperolle ornamentation and identified in Latin on a manuscript cedula label as S. Vin, Ferre.  On the back, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Fr. Innocenzo Gorgoni, O.S.B. (†1774), Bishop of Penne e Atri, Italy (1746-1755). The relic is accompanied by an original matching authentics document issued and signed in 1753 by Fr. Gorgoni.

Saint Vincent Ferrer, O.P., (†1419) was a Valencian Dominican friar, who gained acclaim as a missionary and a logician who was canonized by Pope Calixtus III in 1455. His feast day is celebrated on 5 April. He is a holy patron of builders, construction workers, plumbers, fishermen, and orphanages.
