Oval glass-fronted silvered brass reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus (from the bone) relics of 2 Martyr Saints: St. Cecilia & St. Valerian. The relics are affixed to a red silk background, surrounded by gilt paperolle and silver wire ornamentation, and identified on a fancy manuscript cedulae labels as S. Caeciliae V.M. / Oss. S. Valeriani M. (St. Cecilia Virgin & Martyr/ St. Valerian Martyr)On the back,  the theca is secured by a seal of red wax with a partially preserved imprint of a coat of arms of a Roman Catholic Archbishop.

Saint Cecilia was a Roman martyr venerated in Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and some Lutheran churches, such as the Church of Sweden. She became the patroness of music and musicians, it being written that, as the musicians played at her wedding, Cecilia "sang in her heart to the Lord". Musical compositions are dedicated to her, and her feast, on 22 November, is the occasion of concerts and musical festivals. St Cecilia is one of several virgin martyrs commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass in the Latin Church.

Saint Valerian (†457) was the bishop of Abbenza in North Africa who martyred when he refused to surrender the sacred vessels of his church to the Vandals led by Arian king Geiseric. St. Valerian was driven out of the city and left to die of exposure. His feast day is celebrated on September 15.
