Vatican Reliquary theca with relics of 2 Martyr Saints: Saint Agnese of Rome & Saint Barbara

Round white-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus  (of the bone) relics of Saint Agnese of Rome and Saint Barbara. The relics are affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedulae labels as S. Agnetis V. Mart / S. Barbarae V. M. (Saint Irene, Virgin & Martyr / Saint Valeria, Virgin & Martyr).  On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Monsignor Ugo Poletti (†1997), Vicar General of Rome (1973–1991) and a 1990 date of issue.

Saint Agnese of Rome († c. 304) is venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, the Anglican Communion, and Lutheranism. She is a holy patron of betrothed couples; chastity; Children of Mary; gardeners; Girl Guides; girls; rape survivors; virgins; the diocese of Rockville Centre, New York; and the city of Fresno. Her feast day is commemorated on 21st of January.

Saint Barbara, known in the Eastern Orthodox Church as the Great Martyr Barbara, was an early Christian saint and martyr who is venerated as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. Accounts place her in the 3rd century in Nicomedia, present-day Turkey or in Heliopolis of Phoenicia, present-day Baalbek, Lebanon. She is a holy patron of Armourers, Architects, Artillerymen, Firemen, Mathematicians, Miners, and Prisoners.
