The relic came in. I wanted to cry. My heart was so overwhelmed with joy. On my 25th anniversary the Discalsed Monastery celebrated mass with me in their cloister. The Mother Prioress with the sisters came be a hard bound copy of his writings and his life. I feel it was the hand of Blessed Francisco was moving them. And with this holy relic he is moving me. I will do a more intensive study of him. I will place his relic in the large reliquary I have with John of the Cross, Teresa of Avila, and Therese of Liseaux. He will be at home.

Reliquary theca with relic of St. Thomas the Apostle

Oval glass-fronted silver pendant reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Thomas the Apostle. The relic is affixed to a gilt paper starburst on the ground of silk, surrounded by silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a fancy manuscript cedula label as S. Thomae Apost. (Saint Thomas the Apostle). On the back, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Francesco Gaetano Incontri (†1781), the Archbishop of Florence (p. 1741-1781), Italy.

Thomas the Apostle (called Didymus which means "the twin" in Syriac) was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ. He is informally called doubting Thomas because he doubted Jesus' resurrection when first told, followed later by his confession of faith, "My Lord and my God", on seeing Jesus' wounded body. After his death, the reputed relics of Saint Thomas the Apostle were enshrined as far as Mesopotamia in the 3rd century, and later moved to various places. In 1258, some of the relics were brought to Abruzzo in Ortona, Italy, where they have been held in the Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle. He is often regarded as the Patron Saint of India and Sri Lanka. His Feast day is celebrated on May 3rd (Roman Catholic Church), and 14 November (Eastern Orthodox Church).
