Oval glass-fronted silvered brass pendant reliquary theca housing the first-class Ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Anthimus of Rome, Martyr. A substantial relic is affixed to a gilt paper burst on a background of silk, surrounded by a silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a manuscript cedula label as Ex Oss.S. Anthimi Presbyter & M. (of the bone of Saint Anthimus of Rome, Priest & Martyr). On the back, the reliquary is secured by the perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax with a coat of arms of Fr. Francesco Maria Ginori (†1775), Bishop of Fiesole, Italy (1736–1775).

Saint Anthimus of Rome († c. 303), a presbyter and martyr, was a devoted Christian priest from Bithynia who faced persecution under Emperors Diocletian and Maximian. Known for his steadfast faith, he converted the Roman governor Pinianus while imprisoned, leading to the release of many Christian captives. After his release, Anthimus continued his ministry in Italy, performing miracles and winning converts. His unwavering commitment to Christ led to his martyrdom. His relics are venerated at St. Antimo’s Abbey in Tuscany. Celebrated for his courage and evangelistic zeal, his feast day is May 11 in the Catholic Church.
