Oval glass-fronted silvered brass pendant reliquary theca housing the second-class Ex habitus (of a habit) relic of Saint Antoninus of Florence. The relic is affixed to a gilt paper burst on a ground of silk, surrounded by a silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a fancy manuscript cedula label as Ex Habit. S. Antonini Ar. Fl. (of a habit of Saint Antoninus, Archbishop of Florence). On the back, the reliquary is secured by the perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax with a coat of arms of Ferdinando Minucci (†1856), Archbishop of Florence (1828-1856).
Saint Antoninus of Florence († 1459) was a Dominican friar who became the Archbishop of Florence in 1446. Known for his pastoral zeal, service to the poor, and expertise in canon law, he founded the priory of San Marco in Florence, which was decorated by Fra Angelico. He authored the Summa Moralis and established a charitable society under St. Martin of Tours. His feast day is May 10.
