1992 Documented reliquary theca with relics of Saint Josephine Bakhita, FDCC, Patron of Sudan

Round glass-fronted white-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex corpore  (of the body) pre-canonization relic of Saint Josephine Bakhita. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as Ex Corpore B. Josephinae Bakhita (from the body of Blessed Josephine Bakhita) On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a paper seal bearing an imprint of the coat of arms of the Canossian Daughters of Charity, Servants of the Poor (FDCC). The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued 17 May 1992 (the day of her beatification) by the Postulator General of the Order.

Saint Josephine Margaret Bakhita, FDCC (†1947) was a Sudanese Catholic religious sister who joined the Canossians after winning her freedom from slavery. Enduring brutal enslavement, she was sold multiple times, suffering severe abuse, including 114 permanent scars. In 1883, she was bought by an Italian consul and taken to Italy, where she was freed in 1885 due to Italy’s anti-slavery laws. Baptized in 1890 as Josephine Margaret Fortunata, she joined the Canossian Sisters in 1893. Known for her gentleness, she served as a cook and doorkeeper in Schio, Italy, until her death in 1947. She was beatified on 17 May 1992 and canonized on October 1, 2000, St Peter's Basilica by Pope John Paul II. Her feast is commemorated on February 8.
