Saint Ludovico of Casoria (†1885) was a Franciscan friar and social reformer who established the Gray Friars of Charity in 1859 and the Franciscan Sisters of Saint Elizabeth in 1862. After a mystical experience in 1847, he dedicated his life to the poor, founding orphanages, schools for African children, and institutions for the deaf, mute, blind, and elderly. He was beatified on April 18, 1993, by Pope John Paul II and canonized on November 23, 2014, by Pope Francis. His feast day is celebrated on March 30.

Round glass-fronted yellow-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) pre-canonization relic of Saint Ludovico of Casoria. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as B. Ludovici a Cas. (Blessed Ludovico of Casoria). On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Order of Friars Minor (commonly known as the Franciscans). The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and signed on April 18, 1993 (the very day of his beatification) by the Postulator General of the Order responsible for the cause of beatification and canonization.
