Saint Peter Claver (†1654) was a Jesuit priest and missionary known as the "Apostle of the Slaves." After joining the Jesuits in 1602, he was sent to Cartagena, Colombia, in 1610, where he ministered to enslaved Africans. Ordained in 1616, he dedicated his life to their spiritual and physical care, baptizing over 300,000 and advocating for their humane treatment. Living simply, he endured harsh conditions alongside them. Despite opposition, his compassion earned widespread respect. He was beatified in 1850 and canonized in 1888, and his feast day is celebrated on September 9.

Round glass-fronted white-metal reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Peter Claver. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as S. Petri Claver(Saint Peter Claver). On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Jesuit Order. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and signed in 1989 by the Postulator General of the Order responsible for the cause of beatification and canonization.
