Saint Ambrose of Milan (†397) was a prominent bishop, confessor, and Doctor of the Church. Born around 340 in Trier, Ambrose was a Roman governor before being elected Bishop of Milan in 374, despite not being baptized. A skilled orator and theologian, he defended orthodoxy against Arianism, influenced the conversion of St. Augustine, and shaped Christian liturgy and hymnody. His writings, like De Officiis, remain influential. He was beatified and canonized early, and his feast day is celebrated on December 7.
Blessed Peter of Tiferno (†1445) was a Dominican friar associated known for his piety and preaching. He lived as a hermit, emphasizing contemplation and penance. He was beatified in 1816 by Pope Pius VII, and his feast day is October 21.
