Saint Margaret of Cortona, T.O.S.F., (†1297) was an Italian penitent of the Third Order of St. Francis canonized in 1728. She is the patron saint of the falsely accused, hoboes, homeless, insane, orphaned, mentally ill, midwives, penitents, single mothers, reformed prostitutes, stepchildren, and tramps.
Oval glass-fronted silvered brass reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus relic of Saint Margaret of Cortona. The relic is identified in Latin on a paper cedula label as S Margarita Cort. (Saint Margaret of Cortona) and secured on the back by a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax with a coat of arms of an unidentified Roman Catholic bishop.
