2001 Documented reliquary theca with relic of St. George (Gorg) Preca, founder of the Society of Christian Doctrine in Malta

Round yellow-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing the first-class ex capillis (of the hair) pre-canonization relic of the Saint George Preca. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as Ex Capillis / B. Georgii Preca (of the hair of the Blessed George Preca).  On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Society of Christian Doctrine in Malta. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and sealed in 2001 by the Postulator General of the Order responsible for the Causes of Canonization.

Saint George Preca (in Maltese: Ġorġ Preca) (†1962) was a Maltese Catholic priest and a Third Order Carmelite who was the founder of the Society of Christian Doctrine. He is known as "Dun Ġorġ" in Maltese and Pope John Paul II dubbed him "Malta’s second father in faith". He assumed the religious name of "Franco" after becoming a Third Order Carmelite and his pastoral care and religious teaching earned recognition. However, his activities raised suspicions of heresy from senior clergy. His activism earned him praise, and in 1952, Pope Pius XII nominated him as a Papal Privy Chamberlain and awarded him the rank of Monsignor. In 1957 he composed five new mysteries for the Rosary for his followers which he had referred to as the "Mysteries of Light". He was beatified in 2001 by Pope John Paul II and canonized on 3 June 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI.
