According to Tradition, the Miracleworking icon depicting Our Lady Of Jerusalem is attributed to the authorship of St. Luke and the image has been taken from Jerusalem to Constantinople in the 5th century. In the 9th century it was taken to Korsun (Kherson), where it was presented to the Great Prince Vladimir after his conquest of the city in 988. He, in turn, presented it to the people of Novgorod at the time of their conversion and baptism.
