Theca with relics of Saint Catherine of Genoa

Oval glass-fronted silver reliquary theca housing substantial second class ex veste (of the dress) relic of Saint Catherine of Genoa. The relic is affixed on a background of red silk and identified on a paper typographic cedula as S. Catarinae Januensis. The reliquary is secured by a seal of red Spanish wax with coat of arms of Fr. Giovanni Luca Solari, Bishop of Brugnato, Italy (p. 1792-1810).

Saint Catherine of Genoa († 1510) was an Italian Roman Catholic saint and mystic, admired for her work among the sick and the poor and remembered because of various writings describing both these actions and her mystical experiences. She is a patron of Brides, Childless People, Difficult Marriages, People Ridiculed For Their Piety, Temptations, Victims Of Adultery, Victims Of Unfaithfulness, Widows.
