Documented reliquary theca with relics of St Benedict Joseph Labre, saint of the 40 Hours

Oval glass-fronted theca housing first-class ex ossibus (from the bone) relic of Saint Benedict Joseph Labre. The relic is affixed to the background of red silk and titled on a arch-shaped typographic cedula label as Ex Ossibus S. Benedicti Josephi Lable C[onfessoris]. The theca is secured on the back, under protective cap, with a red wax seal with a coat of arms of fr. Raffaele Virili (†1925), Titular bishop of Troas and Postulator of the Cause of Caninization of Saint Benedict Joseph Labre. The relic comes with a matching authentics document signed by fr. Virili and dated 1881, the exact year of canonizaion of the Saint.

Saint Benedict Joseph Labre, T.O.S.F., (French: Benoît-Joseph Labre) (†1783) was a French mendicant, Franciscan tertiary, and Catholic saint known as the "saint of the Forty Hours" (or Quarant' Ore) for his dedication to Eucharistic adoration. A cult grew up around him very soon after his death, and he was declared Blessed by Blessed Pius IX in 1860, and later canonized by Pope Leo XIII in 1881. Benedict is patron saint of unmarried men (bachelors), rejects, mental illness, mentally ill people, insanity, beggars, hobos, the homeless. His feast day is observed on April 16.
