Reliquary theca with relics of Saint Rosalia, the Little Saint

Oval  glass-fronted silver theca housing first-class relics of Saint Rosalia. The relic is affixed to a multi-color silk background surrounded by golden paperole and twisted silver wire ornamentation and titled on a handwritten cedula label as S. Rosaliae V.. (Saint Rosalia Virgin).  On the back the theca is secured with a perfectly preserved red wax seal with a coat of arms of Bishop Nicola Angelo Maria Landini, O.E.S.A. (†1782), Titular Bishop of Parthyrion and Vicar General of the Vatican Curia.

Saint Rosalia (†1166), also called La Santuzza or "The Little Saint", and in local dialect as "Rusalia", is the patron saint of Palermo in Italy, and three towns in Venezuela. Devoutly religious, she retired to live as a hermit in a cave on Mount Pellegrino, where she died alone in 1166.
