Documented theca with relics of St Philip Neri, Apostle of Rome

18th-century oval crystal-fronted silver reliquary theca housing first-class ex sangune  (of the blood) relic of Saint Philip Romolo Neri. The relic is affixed to a multi-color silk background decorated with gilt paperolle and silver cord and identified on a manuscript cedulae as Ex Tela imbuta sangune / S Philip Neri (Of the cloth soaked with blood / of Saint Philip Neri). On the back, the theca is secured with a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Monsignor Ferdinando Maria de Rossi († 1775), Cardinal-Vicar of Rome (1742-1759). It is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued by Fr. de Rossi in 1748. 

Saint Philip Romolo Neri, (Italian: Filippo Romolo Neri; † 1595), known as the Apostle of Rome, was an Italian priest noted for founding a society of secular clergy called the Congregation of the Oratory of Filippo Neri. Patron of Rome, Mandaluyong, US Special Forces, Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, laughter, humor, and joy.
