Documented theca with relics of the Blessed Giovanna Maria Bonomo

18th century oval glass-fronted reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relics of the Blessed Giovanna Maria Bonomo. The relic is affixed to a red silk background decorated with silver cord and identified on a manuscript cedula label as B. Joanna Bonon. V. (Blessed Giovana Bonomo, Virgin)On the back, the theca is secured with perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Fr. Tiberio Borghese (†1792), Archbishop of Siena (1772-1792). It is accompanied by original matching authentics document issued by Fr. Borghese in 1784, only one year after she was beatified by Pope Pius VI.

Blessed Giovanna Maria Bonomo (†1670) was an Italian Roman Catholic nun who was a professed member of the Benedictines. She was ridiculed for her dedication and her experiences as some believed them to be heretical or a need for attention. She was beatified in 1783 after the recognition of two miracles that were found to have been attributed to her intercession.
