Frame Reliquary with relics of St Paschal Baylon, the Virgin Mary & 23 Important Saints

Profusely decorated 19th-century glass-fronted gilt wood frame reliquary housing relics of the Veil of the Blessed Virgin Mary and 23 Important Saints centered around the portrait and relic of St. Paschal Baylon. On the back, the reliquary is secured by a vertical silk cord held in place by two seals of red Spanish wax with an imprint of a coat of arms of an unidentified Roman Catholic Bishop. 

 The reliquary contains relics of the following saints:

  • Center: St. Paschal Baylon
  • Left upper corner: St. Laurence, St. Pacificus Martyr, St. Boniface Martyr, St. Theodorus Martyr, St. Xisti Martyr, St. Candidus Martyr
  • Right upper corner: St. Theresa Virgin Martyr, St. Maximus Martyr, St. Callistus Martyr, St. Verecundus Martyr, St. Vitalis Martyr
  • Lower left: Ex Velo BVM, St. Simon Ap., St. Luke Ev., St. John Joseph of the Cross, St. Thomas
  • Lower right: St. Pius Pope and Martyr, St. Justin Martyr, St Rose Viterbo, St. Nicholas Tolentino, Blessed Maria Fussimi
  • Lower Center: St. Vincentia Virgin & Martyr

Saint Paschal Baylon (†1592) was a Spanish friar and is a saint in the Roman Catholic Church noted for his strict austerities which he imposed upon himself as well as his love for and compassion towards the ill but best known for his strong and deep devotion to the Eucharist. Pope Paul V beatified him in 1618 while Pope Alexander VIII canonized him later in 1690. He is known as the "Seraph of the Eucharist" and is the patron saint of Eucharistic congresses and Eucharistic associations.
