Documented reliquary theca with relics of Saint Jean-Baptiste-Marie (John) Vianney

Round gilt metal reliquary theca housing precious and rare first-class ex carne (of the flesh) relics of Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney. The relic is identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as Ex carne / St. J-M Vianney  (from the flesh of Saint Jean-Marie Vianney).  On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a perfectly-preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Cardinal Clemente Micara (†), Vicar General of Rome (1951-1963) and Pro-Prefect of the Congregation of Sacred Rites responsible for Canonization of Saints (1953-1963). The relic is accompanied by an original matching authentics document issued and signed by Monsignor Micara in 1955.

Jean-Baptiste-Marie Vianney, T.O.S.F. († 1859), commonly known in English as St. John Vianney, was a French parish priest who is venerated in the Catholic Church as a saint and as the patron saint of parish priests. He is often referred to as the "Curé d'Ars" (i.e., Parish Priest of Ars), internationally known for his priestly and pastoral work in his parish in Ars, France, because of the radical spiritual transformation of the community and its surroundings. Catholics attribute this to his saintly life, mortification, his persevering ministry in the sacrament of confession, and his ardent devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. His feast day is 4 August.
