Reliquary theca with relics of St. Thomas Aquinas, Doctor of the Church

Small oval glass-fronted silver reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Thomas Aquinas, OP. The relic is affixed to a lilac silk background and identified on a typeset cedula label as S. Thomas d'Aq.  On the back, under a protective cap with an image of the Medal of Our Lady of Graces, the theca is secured by a seal of red Spanish wax with a faint imprint of a coat of arms of a Roman Catholic Bishop. 

Saint Thomas Aquinas, OP (†1274) is a Catholic saint and Doctor of the Church who was an Italian Dominican friar and Roman Catholic priest, and an immensely influential philosopher, theologian and jurist in the tradition of scholasticism, within which he is also known as the "Doctor Angelicus" and "Doctor Communis". He is a patron of Academics; against storms; against lightning; apologists; Aquino, Italy; Belcastro, Italy; booksellers; Catholic academies, schools, and universities; chastity; Falena, Italy; learning; pencil makers; philosophers; publishers; scholars; students; University of Sto.
