Saint Francis Xavier, S.J., († 1552), was a Navarrese Basque Roman Catholic missionary born in Xavier, Kingdom of Navarre (now part of Spain), and a co-founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). He was a companion of St. Ignatius of Loyola and one of the first seven Jesuits who took vows of poverty and chastity at Montmartre, Paris, in 1534. 1987 Documented reliquary theca with relics of Jesuit Saint Francis Xavier, a co-founder of the Society of Jesus
Round glass-fronted white-metal reliquary theca housing the second-class ex bireto (of the beret) relics of St. Francis Xavier. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as S. Franc. Xavierii (St. Francis Xavier). On the back, under the protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued in 1987 by the Postulator General of the Order.
