1910 Documented reliquary theca with relic of St. Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi

Oval glass-fronted silver pendant reliquary theca housing the second-class ex subgulo (of an undergarment) relic of Saint Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi. A substantial relic is affixed to a silk ground asurrounded by gilt paper and silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on an ornate manuscript cedula label as Ex Subgulos Ma: Magd. de Pazzis V. (of an undergarment of Saint Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi, Virgin).  On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Cardinal Guido Maria Conforti (†), Archbishop of Parma (1907-1931), who was himself canonized as a Saint in 2011. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and sealed by the order of Monsignor Caselli in 1910.

Saint Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi, O.Carm. († 1607) was an Italian Carmelite nun and mystic. Numerous miracles allegedly followed de' Pazzi's death. She was beatified in 1626 and canonized in 1669 by Pope Clement IX. She is little known outside Italy, but her cult is very strong, especially in Florence. Her importance in the Mission to the East especially in connection with India is recently explored. Her feast day is commemorated on May 25.
