Saint Francis Gil de Federich de Sans M.O.P. (†1773) was a Dominican and martyr in Vietnam. Born in Tortossa, Spain in 1702, Francis entered the Dominicans in Barcelona and was assigned to the Philippine missions. In 1732, he went to Tonkin and labored there. Arrested, he was a prisoner for several years and was beheaded on 22 January 1745 in Thang Long, Hanoi, Vietnam. Pope John Paul II canonized him in 1988, as part of the group of 117 Vietnamese martyrs. His feast day is celebrated on January 22nd.
Saint Jerome Hermosilla M.O.P. (†1861) was a Dominican and martyr in Vietnam. He was born in La Calzada, he entered the Dominicans and was sent to Asia. Consecrated a bishop and succeeding St. Ignatius Delgado as vicar apostolic, Jerome was arrested by Vietnamese authorities and was horribly tortured and then beheaded. Pope John Paul II canonized him in 1988, as part of the group of 117 Vietnamese martyrs. His feast day is celebrated on November 1st.
Saint Hyacinth Castañeda M.O.P. (†1773) was a Dominican and martyr in Vietnam. Born in Setavo, Spain, he was sent to China and then Vietnam where he was beheaded in 1773. Pope John Paul II canonized him in 1988, as part of the group of 117 Vietnamese martyrs. His feast day is celebrated on November 7th.
