An important ca. 1800 inverted pear-shaped glass-fronted brass reliquary theca housing a relic of The True Cross of Christ. The substantial particles of the Wood from the True Cross are arranged in a cruciform shape on a ground of red silk and surrounded by gilt silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a fancy manuscript cedula label as S.S. Crucis D.N.J.C. ([from] The most holy Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ). On the back, behind the protective cap, the reliquary is secured by a seal of red Spanish wax with a coat of arms of Monsignor Bernardino Honorati (†1807), a Cardinal-Priest of Santi Marcellino e Pietro in Rome and an important Vatican official who served as Referendary of the Apostolic Signatura and a Relator of the Sacred Congregation of Good Government.
