Round yellow-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus  (of the bone) relics of two monastic saints: Saint Benedict of Nursiaand Saint Maurus. The relics are affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on typeset cedulae labels as S. Mauri Ab.  / S. Benedicti Ab. (Saint Maurus , Abbot and Saint Benedict, Abbot).  On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Monsignor Camillo Ruini, Archpriest of the Arcibasilica di San Giovanni in Laterano and Vicar General of the Diocese of Rome (1991 to 2008). The relic is accompanied by an original matching authentics document issued and sealed in 1994 by the Vicar General of Rome.

Saint Benedict of Nursia (†547 AD) is a Christian saint venerated in the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Churches. He is a patron saint of Europe and considered to be the founder of Western Christian monasticism. He founded twelve communities for monks and his main achievement is his "Rule of Saint Benedict", containing precepts for his monks combining unique spirit of balance, moderation and reasonableness. He is a holy patron of Against poison, Against witchcraft, Agricultural workers,  Covers, Civil engineers, Coppersmiths, Dying people, Erysipelas, Europe, Farmers, Fever, Gall stones, Heerdt (Germany),  Heraldry and Officers of arms,  the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, Inflammatory diseases, Italian architects, Kidney disease, Monks, Nettle rash, Norcia, (Italy), People in religious orders, Schoolchildren and students, Servants who have broken their master's belongings, Speleologists, Spelunkers, and Temptations.

Saint Maurus O.S.B. (†584) was the first disciple of Benedict of Nursia. Around 543, Innocentius, the Bishop of Mans, sent his vicar, Adenard, to Monte Cassino to request Benedict to send some monks to Gaul. Maurus was dispatched and, during the journey, obtained a number of cures for the sick and injured encountered along the way. Through the generosity of King Theudebert, he founded Glanfeuil Abbey, which he governed for many years. He resigned the abbacy in 581 to spend the remainder of his life in solitude and prayer. The Blessing of Saint Maur is customarily bestowed on the sick with a relic of the true Cross, in hopes of assisting to restore their health. His Feast day is January 15 and he is considered a Patron Saint of cripples, charcoal burners, cobblers, coppersmiths, and shoemakers; invoked against rheumatism, epilepsy, gout, hoarseness, and cold.
