Round white-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Blessed Benedetto da Urbino. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as B. Benedictus Urb. (Blessed Benedetto da Urbino). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Order of Friars Minor Capuchin. The reliquary is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued by the Postulator General of the Order in 1992.
Blessed Benedetto da Urbino (†1625) was a Capuchin friar renowned for his holiness and missionary zeal. Joining the Capuchin Order in 1584, he took the name Benedetto. He served as a preacher and missionary across Italy, known for his austere lifestyle, deep prayer, and devotion to the poor. His spiritual writings and sermons emphasized humility and trust in God. Despite facing health challenges, he continued his mission, inspiring many through his example of charity and penance. Beatified by Pope Pius IX in 1867, his feast day is April 30.
