Round white-metal glass-fronted reliquary theca housing first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Blessed Pietro Renato Rogue. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground decorated by hand-painted floral ornamentation and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as B. P. R. Rogue, M (Blessed Pietro Renato Rogue, Martyr). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Order of the Congregation of the Mission, commonly known as the Vincentians. The reliquary is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued by the Postulator General of the Order in 1934 (the year of his beatification).
Blessed Pierre-René Rogue (†1796) was a Vincentian priest and martyr of the French Revolution. Orphaned at three, he was raised by his devout mother and educated at a Jesuit college. Ordained in 1782, he joined the Congregation of the Mission in 1786, serving as a theology professor. Refusing the revolutionary oath of allegiance, he ministered secretly, aiding the faithful despite persecution. Arrested on Christmas Eve 1795 while carrying the Eucharist, he was guillotined on March 3, 1796. Known as the “Martyr of the Eucharist,” he was beatified by Pope Pius XI on May 10, 1934.
