The Passion relics of the wood from the Table of the Last Supper, known as the Mensa DNJC (Table of Our Lord Jesus Christ), are enshrined in the Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran, Rome’s cathedral and the Pope’s official seat. Tradition holds that Saint Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine, brought these cedar wood fragments from Jerusalem in the 4th century. Housed above the Altar of the Holy Sacrament behind a bronze relief of the Last Supper, they symbolize the Eucharistic foundation of Christianity. As sacred relics, they draw pilgrims, reinforcing the basilica’s status as the “Mother of All Churches.”

1920 Vatican documented reliquary with Passion relics from the Table of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ
New Arrival
An oval glass-fronted silver pendant reliquary theca housing rare precious relics of the Table of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ. The relics are attached to the ground of red silk surrounded by silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as Ex Mensa Coenae DN[JC] (of the Dinner Table of Our Lord [Jesus Christ]). On the back, under a protective cap, the reliquary is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint with a coat of arms of Monsignor Basilio Pompilj (†1931), Cardinal Deacon of Santa Maria in Domnica and the Vicar General of Rome (1913–1931). Between 1913 and 1931, Monsignor Pompilj served as the Archpriest of the Basilica of Saint John Lateran, the very Chuch that houses a large relic of the Table of the Last Supper. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued by Cardinal Pompilj in 1920 under the authority of Pope Benedict XV (p. 1914–1922).
