New Arrival
Reliquary theca with relic of Blessed Pacificus da Ceredano, OFM

Round silvered brass glass-fronted reliquary theca housing second-class ex veste (of the vestment) relic of Blessed Pacificus da Ceredano. A substantial relic is identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as Ex Veste B. Pacifici (Blessed Pacificus). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of an unidentified Roman Catholic Bishop.

Blessed Pacificus da Ceredano, OFM (†1482) was a Franciscan priest renowned for his preaching and holiness. Orphaned young, he was educated by Benedictines before joining the Franciscan Order in 1445. Ordained in 1452, he became a celebrated preacher, promoting moral reform and a crusade against the Turks. He authored the Summa Pacifica, a guide for confessors, first published in 1479. Sent to Sardinia in 1481 to oversee Franciscan monasteries, he died there in 1482. His relics rest in Cerano, and Pope Benedict XIV beatified him in 1745. His feast is June 5.
