New Arrival
Reliquary theca with relic of St. Pope Eutychian, Martyr

Oval glass-fronted brass pendant reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint PopeEutychian. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground surrounded by  gilt paperolle ornamentation and identified in Latin on a manuscript cedula label as S. Eutuchi P.M. (Saint Eutychian Pope & Martyr). On the back, the theca is secured with a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint with a coat of arms of Fr. Antonio Cantoni (†1781), Bishop of Faenza, Italy (1742–1767) and Archbishop of Ravenna, Italy (1767–1781).

Saint PopeEutychian (†283), served as the 27th pope during a period of relative peace under Emperor Probus. Little is known of his life, but he is venerated as a saint and martyr in the Roman Martyrology. Tradition credits him with ordaining numerous priests and blessing agricultural produce to protect it from harm. His papacy focused on strengthening the early Church amid intermittent persecutions. His martyrdom is noted, though historical details are scarce. His feast day is celebrated on December 7, honoring his contributions and sacrifice.
