Theca with a first-class ex ossibus relic of Saint Dominic de Guzmán, founder of the Dominican Order

Glass-fronted silvered metal reliquary theca decorated with paperole ornamentation and housing first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Dominic de Guzmán. The relic is identified on a paper cedula as S. Dominici C(aleruega) and secured by a perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax with a coat of arms of an unidentified Catholic Bishop.

Saint Dominic (Spanish: Santo Domingo), also known as Dominic of Caleruega, often called Dominic de Guzmán and Domingo Félix de Guzmán (†1221), was a Castilian priest and founder of the Dominican Order. He is a holy patron of astronomers; astronomy; Dominican Republic; falsely accused people; Santo Domingo Pueblo, Valletta, Birgu (Malta), and Managua.
