Reliquary frame with theca with relic of St Francis of Assisi

Opulent ornate solid gilt brass mid-20th century reliquary frame housing round gilt silver theca with  first class ex ossibus relic of Saint Francis of Assisi. Inside of the theca mounted in the middle of the silver background and surrounded by flower decoration the precious relic is affixed to the background of red silk and identified as S. Franc. Ass. Due to construction of the frame, it is impossible to see the protective seal on the theca without disturbing the set up, but we believe that the theca dates to ca. 1950's and sealed by cardinal Clemente Micara, Vicar General of Rome.

Saint Francis of Assisi (†1226), was an Italian Roman Catholic friar and preacher who founded the men's Order of Friars Minor, the women's Order of Saint Clare, the Third Order of Saint Francis and the Custody of the Holy Land. Francis is one of the most venerated religious figures in history. He is a Holy Patron of animals; the environment; Italy; merchants; San Francisco, California, Naga City, Cebu, tapestry workers.
