Reliquary theca with relics of Saint Andrew Stratelates (Andrew the Commander)

Oval glass-fronted silver reliquary theca housing substantial first class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of Saint Andrew Stratelates. The relic is affixed on a background of red silk and identified on a paper  cedula as S. Andreae M.  The reliquary is secured by a seal of red Spanish wax with coat of arms of Italian Bishop.

Saint Andrew Stratelates (†300) - or Saint Andrew the Commander was a 3rd-century Roman military commander who is commemorated with his 2,593 soldiers as martyrs by the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church on 19 August.
