Reliquary theca with relics of St Francis Xavier Bianchi, Barnabite priest

Round glass-fronted reliquary theca dating to 1920's housing first-class ex ossibus (from the bone) relics of Saint Francis Xavier Maria Bianchi, C.R.S.P.. The relics are affixed to a red silk background and identified on a typographic cedula as Ex Oss B. Franc. M. Bianchi (ex ossibus Blessed Francis Xavier Bianchi)On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is protected by a seal of red wax with a hardly visible imprint of a coat of arms of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin sealed by Fr. Anthony M. Santarelli, Postulator General of the Order in 1920's responsible for a cause for beatification and canonization through the judicial processes required by the Roman Catholic Church.

Saint Francis Xavier Mary Bianchi, C.R.S.P. (†1815), was an Italian Barnabite priest and noted scholar, who also gained a reputation for sanctity during his lifetime from both his commitment to his students and to the poor of Naples. He was beatified in 1893 by Pope Leo XIII and canonized in 1951 by Pope Pius XII. His remains are enshrined in the Church of Santa Maria di Caravaggio in Naples.
