Reliquary theca with relics of Saint Vincent Martyr of Saragossa, the Protomartyr of Spain

Oval glass-fronted silver theca housing ex dentis (of the tooth) relic of Saint Vincent of Saragossa. The relic is affixed to a gold silk background surrounded by silver wire ornamentation and identified on a manuscript cedula label as S. Vincentie M (St. Vincent, Martyr). On the back,  under a protective cap, the theca is secured by a seal of red Spanish wax with an imprint of a coat of arms of a Roman Catholic Bishop.

Saint Vincent of Saragossa, also known as Vincent the Deacon Martyr was a deacon of the Church of Saragossa and is considered the Protomartyr of Spain. He was born at Huesca and martyred under Emperor Diocletian around the year 304. His feast day is 22 January in the Roman Catholic Church and Anglican Communion and 11 November in the Eastern Orthodox Churches. He is the patron saint of São
