Saint Maria Goretti (1890 – 1902) is an Italian virgin-martyr of the Catholic Church, and one of the youngest canonized saints. on June 24, 1950, Pius XII canonized Maria as a saint, the "Saint Agnes of the 20th century." Maria's body is kept in the crypt of the Basilica of Nostra Signora delle Grazie e Santa Maria Goretti in Nettuno, south of Rome. It has been often reported that it is incorrupt but this is not the case. It is kept inside a statue that is lying down beneath the altar, which has been mistakenly believed by some to be its entirety. She is a Holy Patron of victims of rape, crime victims, teenage girls, modern youth, and Children of Mary.

Round gilt metal reliquary theca housing precious and rare first-class ex ossibus (from the bone) relics of Saint Maria Goretti. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground decorated by silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as Ex ossibus S Maria Goretti (from the bone of St. Maria Goretti). On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a perfectly-preserved seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of the Passionists order. The relic is accompanied by an original matching authentics document issued and signed by the Postulator General of the Passionist Order in 1955.
