Spectacular French reliquary monstrance with relics of St. Ferreolus, Martyr

Spectacular glass-fronted silvered-brass reliquary monstrance housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relics of Saint Ferreolus, Martyr. Several sizable precious relics are affixed inside the reliquary monstrance on a ground of red silk among gilt-silver floral decoration and identified on a manuscript paper cedula label as S. Ferrreoli mar.  (Saint Ferreolus, Martyr). On the back, the monstrance has a hinged lid that opens to reveal a paper-wrapped container housing additional substantial relics of Saint Ferreolus identified on a manuscript paper label as  Reste des Reliques  / On meme St. Ferreolis / (mements pulverisis). (Remains of the Relics of same St. Ferreolus (bodily dust)).

Saint Ferreolus soldier and martyr of Vienne (†304) (French: St Ferréol) is an early Christian Saint and Martyr. He was an officer in the Roman imperial army at Vienne, Gaul (present-day France). He sheltered St. Julian of Brioude and was arrested by the local governor, Crispin. Scourged and imprisoned, Gerreoulus escaped miraculously but was recaptured and beheaded. His Feastday is celebrated on September 18.
