1916 Documented reliquary theca with relic of the Blessed Maria Maddalena Martinengo, patron of tuberculosis sufferers

Round glass-fronted silvered brass pendant reliquary theca housing the first-class ex ossibus (of the bone) relic of the Blessed Maria Maddalena Martinengo. The relic is affixed to a red silk ground surrounded by gilt silver wire ornamentation and identified in Latin on a typeset cedula label as B. Martinengo (Blessed [Maria Maddalena] Martinengo).  On the back, under a protective cap, the theca is secured with a seal of red Spanish wax bearing an imprint of a coat of arms of Archbishop St. Guido Maria Conforti (†), Bishop of Parma, Italy (1907-1931), who himself was canonized as a Saint in 2011 by Pope John Paul II on account of his life of heroic virtue. The relic is accompanied by the original matching authentics document issued and sealed by the order of Monsignor Conforti in 1916.

Blessed Maria Maddalena Martinengo (†1737) was an Italian Roman Catholic professed nun of the order of the Capuchin Poor Clare nuns. Martinengo devoted her life as a professed religious to the performance of small but humble chores in her time as a Poor Clare nun and was noted for her life of spiritual discernment and devotion to God above all else. She was beatified on 3 June 1900 by Pope Leo XIII. She is prayed to in assistance against tuberculosis.
