Theca with first class relic of Saint Bridget of Sweden

Oval glass-fronted silvered brass reliquary theca housing ex ossibus relic of Saint Bridget of Sweden. The relic is identified on a paper cedula as S Birgitta Vid. (Saint Bridget, Widow) and secured by perfectly preserved seal of red Spanish wax with coat of arms of Luigi Fransoni († 1862), Archbishop of Turin (1832-1862).

Bridget of Sweden († 1373); born as Birgitta Birgersdotter, also Birgitta of Vadstena, or Saint Birgitta (Swedish: den heliga Birgitta), was a mystic and saint, and founder of the Bridgettines nuns and monks after the death of her husband of twenty years. She is one of the six patron saints of Europe. Patron - Europe, Sweden, and Widows.
